Win a $25 Gift Certificate

Posted in Contests and Memes on September 5th, 2007 by Erin Dietrich

Jenny and I have been quite impressed with the quality of development blogs from Priscilla Palmer’s list. To grow this community we are inviting you, and anyone else interested, to enter a little contest. Of course every contest must have a prize, so we are offering a $25 Amazon gift certificate to the winner.

And what you are all waiting for, the question is…

How big of a role do habits play in your daily life? Do your habits typically form intentionally or unconsciously? What approaches have you found successful in shaping them?

We know you are all free thinkers, so we have kept the guidelines to a raw minimum. The only thing we ask is that you mention “Jenny and Erin” and “quest for understanding.” Easy enough, right? Please send us your entry at jenny-and-erin@jenny-and-erin.com by September 21, 2007. We will post a list of all of the entries with links and announce the winner, decided by us and maybe our moms if there is a tie, on October 1, 2007.

You do not need a blog to play. Just email me your article and we will find a way to publish it.

Happy blogging!

This contest is now closed. To read the entries to this challenge visit:

Erin, Are we to write a blog post and link to you or just send you a piece of information.? I’m looking forward to winning!
This is what What I did with my winnings!from the last on-line contest I entered!

  2. Erin Says:

MichelleVan, either way is fine. If you want to use the content on your blog, go for it, and just link it to us. Otherwise, if it doesn’t match your content, feel free to just send it to us.

  3. Priscilla Palmer Says:

Thanks for the link. I will be writing a post for your contest in the next week.

  4. Rob Says:

Erin, Thanks for the invite. Interestingly enough I am in full flow of a process to consciously watch & identify my habits and change those that do not serve me.

Good timing. This is just the time for me to post about this as it fits with my new blog The Neural Recon Report, which I hope will become an interesting read on this very subject.

    Rob

    Hi Erin,
Thanks for the invite, this is very interesting, as I’m on the process of starting a treat to myself for what I’d call it project 30, to start and form a new positive habit within 30 days!

Give me some time to experience and refresh it before I write anything about it.

    Thanks,
    Joanne

  11. Jason Says:

If it were just a bit earlier, I would write one today, considering my writing output today (3 articles on my website, and one guest post submitted). I may very well write it tomorrow.

  50. Jenny Says:

Hi! What a bunch of great posts! Just wanted to let you know that I am visiting each one of you (as I am truly interested in the subject of habits and what you have to say) but am noticing that I have somehow become “spam” a large portion of the time when I comment :(

If you do not hear from either Erin or I, check your spam as you just might find me sitting there sadly…

  51. Lorraine Cohen Says:

    Hi Jenny,

I”m glad you said something about coming up as spam. I automatically delete my folder so I hope you didn’t get caught in mine!

  52. Jenny Says:

    Hey Lorraine,
Thanks for catching me before deleting! I replied to your reply and think I’m back in the spam box.

    Mark,
I’m spam again at your site also…

Does anyone know what I’ve done or how I can fix this??

  53. Bill Perry Says:

    Jenny,
I have the Akismet plugin turned on, and I check it once every few days. That’s where I found you. But I marked it as “Not Spam! NEVER again treat Jenny as SPAM!!! EVER!!!!”

So, since Akismet is a learning plugin, it should let you through later on.

    :-)

  54. Jenny Says:

    Awwww, thank you Bill!! :)

  55. Bill Perry Says:

de rien, ma femme cherie ;)

  56. Erin Says:

Jenny, you are getting the red carpet treatment! As for me, I’m starting to get comfortable in the trash…. :)

(oops, Bill, you’ll never guess where I just found your comment…)

  57. Jason Says:

I was going to say the same thing… Akismet decided that you were spam, probably something to do with this contest, since that’s when it started happening. If you left comments on a lot of people’s blogs in a really short time (challenging them to write for it), that could have been the trigger.

Anyway, as Bill said, as more and more people mark you as “Not spam”, you should get back out of their dog house.

  59. Jean Browman--Cheerful Monk Says:

You showed up as spam on my site, too, but the mistake was easy to catch. And Akismet is willing to learn.

  60. Jenny Says:

Thanks you guys for checking. By the way - sorry for the invites in your comments - we’re learning…

Next time, personal invitations delivered directly not in the comments as that was one of the common courtesy comments (you’re right Mark) that rang true in this great post on meme’s. Besides the courtesy issue at this point I just got caught by Akismet on our own site! Yikes.

  61. Mark Says:

Hehe Akismet the inadvertent courtesy police…

And as with most things related to courtesy, it’s likely many people wouldn’t mind that sort of comment at all, particularly for an invitation such as this. But I doubt I’m alone in preferring the even more personal touch of email. :)
