Six Month Update
Posted in Work on the Blog on August 27th, 2007 by JennyNext week our blog turns six months old! To date this equals 75 posts and innumerable hours talking, laughing and planning (okay, and a few arguing…). Erin and I have been reflecting upon what we have accomplished, the changes time has brought and some thoughts about our direction.
First, Erin and I have realized that what started as an experiment (the blog that is) has become something we really enjoy. We have met wonderful people, been challenged to think and learn, had brilliant - and not so brilliant - moments, shared our fun, frustrations and struggles with our walking dare. We have also come to value and rely on the thoughtfulness of several people we’ve met (or gotten to know much better) through this online life. The blog and you have truly exceeded all we could of hoped for when we started…so a most sincere thanks.
Here‘s where things are heading next.
- First, we are taking your advice and are continuing the walks. We are going to keep the original trail miles and allow our timeline to be slightly more fluid. We will keep you updated as we continue to walk these beautiful trails.
- Second, we plan on changing the blog’s format slightly and are still brainstorming exactly how this will pan out. We are especially exploring how to cover a particular idea or train of thought in a bit more depth. We loved having Mark Lapierre guest post and would like to have more guest contributors featured in the future. We are open to suggestions and questions you would like to see explored.
- Third, because we only had 8 unique visitors our first month (yep) we are going to repeat a few of our favorite “vintage” posts this week. I really hope you enjoy them as much as we did writing them.
- Finally, we’d really appreciate it if you have any feedback or ideas on what you like and or don’t about our site on content, design, etc. as we work towards making these and other changes.
Thank you for visiting and we look forward unveiling a new look and feel to you very soon!

Glad you started it… you usually provide me with food for thought, and always with someone interesting with whom I can talk.
Two things… if you’re interested in a guest post, I would be more than willing to write one, and second… for your design, you might want to give people an easier way to navigate your site from a specific article. There’s no intuitive way to get to your main page, or a list of your categories, or any other navigational aids, other than your “Previous Post” link at the top.
There’s also no “subscribe” button on an individual post… that means if someone comes to your site directly on an article, even if they want to subscribe, it’s quite difficult for them to do so (a small text link at the very bottom of the page is unlikely to ever be seen by the majority of readers).
By the way, in case you happened to be curious, I started in May with 34 unique visitors, and have, as of today, 102 articles.

Well done ladies, it’s a great milestone!
And thanks again for inviting me to guest post. I loved it too

Jason, thanks for the great feedback. It’s great to get navigation feedback, Jenny and I of course want it to be as user friendly as possible. Redesigning the sidebars, and likely more, is definately on the list of things to do. It’s just finding the time to squeeze it all in…
Mark, thanks for the kind words!
